Aleš Hřebeský Memorial 2018 has record number of teams Twenty-four team representing 15 countries will compete in the 25th annual Aleš Hřebeský Memorial from Wednesday April 25 to Saturday April 28. It is the highest number of participants in the tournament ever, confirming its unique position among European lacrosse events.

Because of the higher number of teams there will be one playing day added in Černošice arena (on Friday). Majority of last year participants will be back. We will miss a team from British Columbia this year, but on the other hand there will be a newcomer from Colorado, USA – Jagged Mountain. Youngsters from LCC Wolves will have their chance to perform their skills in front of home crowd.  Old Dogs from Pilsen, Czechia will be back after several years, and international selection called Non-Olympic Athletes from Everyvere formed by Brian Witmer and Scott Neiss complete two dozens.

Teams will be divided to four elite Gold groups and four lower Silver groups. The winners of Gold groups qualify directly to the quarter-finals. The second teams from Gold groups will match winners of Silver groups in play-in games. Winners of these games continue to quarter-finals. The third teams from Gold groups will match the second teams from Silver groups in play-in games for the final 9th–16th place play-offs. The third teams from Silver groups continue directly to the 17th–24th place play-offs. See the detailed playing system description here.

Teams were divided to six pools for the round-robin draw, which will be held on Wednesday March 28th at 7 p.m. CET. Newcomers have to fight for their glory from the very bottom. You can watch the draw live at LCC Radotín YouTube channel. Again, the rule stating there cannot be two teams from the same country in one rond-robin group will aply.
